About – Jaden Stambolia

Jaden Stambolia graduated with a master’s degree in applied communication, earning a 4.0 GPA. He is currently an editorial assistant for Cleveland Magazine.

Jaden grew up in Warren, Ohio, with his parents, Stephanie and Michael. Jaden’s mom has worked in the medical field his entire life, and his dad has worked as a landscaper. While Jaden is the only child, he has two brothers, King James (a black lab) and Maverick (a Bernese mountain dog).

Growing up, Jaden was really into video games and was a shy kid. It wasn’t until high school that he really started to break out of his shell. Joining WSCN, a student broadcast network, Jaden began doing the morning announcements, creating short videos, and working on football and basketball broadcasts at Warren G. Harding High School.

But his love for journalism was sparked young when he picked up his local newspaper, the Tribune Chronicle, from his great-grandfather. He also enjoyed eating dinner in the living room and watching the NBC Nightly News and 60 Minutes with his parents.

Jaden attended Cleveland State University as an undergraduate, where he double-majored in journalism and anthropology while minoring in political science, with a focus on international relations. He also got a certificate in multimedia advertising. Jaden has written for both student newspapers, The Cleveland Stater and The Cauldron, where he served as Editor-in-Chief.

He is thankful for his family, friends, and professors who have supported him in life: his mom, dad, and best friends, Eddie Sanfrey, Nick Lascola, Christina Judy, Abigail Preszig, Nina Faysal, Vikas Sabbi, Sebastian Canales, Nishat Miage, Alysha Syed, and Sachin Veerasammy.

Dr. John Jirik and Dr. Richard Perloff are the best advisors a student journalist could ever have.

Dr. Beth Thomas, Dr. Anup Kumar, Dr. Rob Whitbred, Dr. Guowei Jian, and Dr. Beth Pask for pushing him in undergrad and grad school. A special thanks to Jennifer Novy for advising him during his undergraduate studies and being the best boss ever.

Lastly, he is grateful to Ron Lengard, Annie Nickoloff, and Dillon Stewart for allowing him to see his byline in Cleveland Magazine.
